There is now a gap in services providing advocacy and support to the older LGBTQ+ people following the closure of a national charity. Tonic Foundation's purpose is to deliver these vital services.

The Tonic Foundation will extend and support the work of Tonic Housing which is now the UKs first LGBTQ+ Specific Housing Association.

We will expand the services developed through ‘the by and for’ experience of Tonic Housing and the Tonic Family, for wider public benefit of LGBTQ+ people aged 55 and over. The services will be initially provided in geographic areas where Tonic Housing operates, in order to benefit from a hub and spoke approach to community involvement and outreach.

The Tonic Foundation was created to focus on advocacy, so Tonic Housing can focus on the housing management responsibilities. As Tonic Housing is an exempt charity, this has sometimes been a barrier to securing grant funding.

Many of the original Tonic Housing founders have returned as the charity's trustees.
